Why December Is Different

Prague’s corporate Christmas season is not spread across a month. It compresses into roughly three weeks, and within those weeks it concentrates further into Thursdays and Fridays. A photographer can physically cover one event per evening. The arithmetic is unforgiving: a handful of experienced professionals, multiplied by about twelve viable evenings, against every company in Prague holding a party.

What the Season Actually Demands

The Christmas party is the hardest brief of the corporate year. It compresses everything difficult about event photography into one four-hour window: candlelit historic venues, awards and speeches, genuine emotion, dancing, and colleagues who see each other differently after the second glass of svařené víno.

The venues make it harder still. Prague’s favourite December spaces — baroque cellars, monastery refectories, ballrooms dimmed deliberately for atmosphere — routinely demand ISO 6400 and beyond. This is where professional technique separates from enthusiasm: fast lenses, bounce flash that preserves the candlelit mood rather than destroying it, and processing that keeps skin tones human at high sensitivity.
